Build the Viking Ship Bot

1. Make a T-bar by bolting two long L-frames to either side of a 10-hole metal frame. Make sure to use two bolts for this!
2. Bolt another 10-hole metal frame to the original 10-hole metal frame. They should be overlapping so that there are three holes left at the top.
3. Repeat step 2, but make sure to use two bolts that are one hole apart from each other!

For this entire step, pay attention to the orientation of the blueboards and the placement of parts!

1. Bolt the blueboards together with a 4-hole metal frame. 2 holes should be on each blueboard.
2. Bolt two short L-frames to the top of the right blueboard. The ends that are sticking up should be facing away from the center of the blueboard.
3. Use eight short standoffs to make four sets of stacked standoffs.
4. Put each stacked standoff at a corner of the joined blueboards.

1. Bolt the T-bar. which is the backbone of the bot, to the blueboards. One hole should be on the right blueboard and the rest should be on the left blueboard.

1. Bolt two long L-frames to the motor. Make sure the wheel hub is at the bottom of the motor!
2. Bolt the long L-frames to the top of the bot’s backbone.

1. Bolt the battery box to the short L-frames on the blueboard. The wires should be at the top of the battery box.
2. Attach two short standoffs to the fifth row of the blueboards. One standoff should be in the fifth column of the left blueboard and the other should be in the second row of the right blueboard.

1. Bolt the Smart Inventor Board to the short standoffs on the blueboard. Pay attention to the Smart Inventor Board’s placement!

For this entire step, pay attention to the orientation of the blueboards and placement of the parts!

1. On the second column, attach long standoffs in the holes in the first and last rows.
2. Make a trapezoid with three 4-hole metal frames and one 7-hole metal frame, and then bolt the longest edge to the long standoffs.
3. On the last column, bolt a short standoff to each corner.
4. Bolt a 7-hole metal frame to the short standoffs.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 on another blueboard and then rotate so the two blueboards are mirror images of each other.

1. Position a horn bracket so there’s a hole at the top.
2. Bolt a 10-hole metal frame to the second hole from the top on the right, and then repeat with another 10-hole metal frame with the second hole from the top on the left.
3. Join the two 10-hole metal frames with a bolt. You may need to move the 10-hole metal frames a little to do this.

1. Attach a long L-frame to each blueboard of the Viking ship deck. They should be next to the short standoffs at the bottom of the blueboards, and the ends that are sticking up should be facing away from the center of the blueboards.

1. Bolt the 10-hole metal frames on the hinge to the long L-frames so that there is some overlap. Use two bolts on each side to do this! Your decks should be at an angle.

1. Use a black screw to attach the horn bracket to the motor.

To wire your Viking Ship Bot, make sure the Smart Inventor Board is facing you:

• The motor on your right is M1.
• The motor on your left is M2.
• Attach the motors to their respective spots on the Smart Inventor Board (M1, M2, M3, and M4 are all marked).
• Make sure that the red wires are the in the negative position (facing the inside) and that the black wires are in the positive position (facing the outside)!
