macOS Python Installation

Humans and computers do not speak the same language; if you tried to talk to a computer using your everyday language, it wouldn’t be able to understand you! Humans need to write code or programs to be able to communicate with computers. Python is one of the many programming languages that has been developed for this purpose.

Python is easy to learn for first-time programmers. It’s readable and modular, which means that blocks of code can easily be transferred across programs to reuse! Python is also very efficient. You can write complex programs with fewer lines than in many other languages.

Python also supports many other languages and eases communication between various components. You can have an LCD screen, a couple of buttons, and an Uno Arduino board and then combine a library that works with the screen, the buttons, and the board into a single code to create a device.

Students of all ages and backgrounds are exploring what you can do with Python. It has many applications, from web design to home assistants. Its growing network of support for learners just like you makes Python a popular choice.

This video tutorial will walk you through the Python installation for MacOS. The steps are also outlined below in separate steps. NOTE: When choosing the version of Python to install, make sure that you select version 3.7.8.

Use this link to download Version 3.7.8 of Python. When it finishes downloading, open the file.

• Go to your Downloads folder and find “python-(your version here)-macosx10.9.pkg”.
• Double click on it to open the installer.
  • Introduction: click “Continue:
  • Read Me: click “Continue”
  • License: “Continue” and “Agree”
  • Destination: select your hard drive and “Continue”
  • Installation Type: review the information and click “Install”
  • Summary: now that you are finished, click “close”. You may delete the installer and “Move to Trah”.
• Although you will not need to open it for the rest of the tutorial, you can find the Python folder in your Applications folder.
