Build the Bug Bot

For this entire step, pay attention to the blueboard’s orientation and the placement of the parts!

1. Attach two long L-frames to the edge of the blueboard with a long bolt so that the L-frames are overlapping by one hole.The ends that are sticking up should be facing the outside of the blueboard.
2. Bolt two short L-frames on either side of the blueboard so that they are parallel to the long L-frames. The ends that are sticking up should be facing the outside of the blueboard.
3. Repeat step 2, but these short L-frames should be at the bottom corners of the blueboard.
4. Bolt two 7-hole metal frames in between the two short L-frames at the bottom of the blueboard. 4 out of the 7 holes should be off the blueboard.
5. Once you’re finished, flip everything over!

1. Bolt two long L-frames and a 7-hole metal frame together so that the long L-frames are overlapping by one hole and the 7-hole metal frame is in the center overlapping everything.
2. Bolt this piece to the two 7-hole metal frames on the blueboard. The middle bolt should be in between the 7-hole metal frames.

1. Make three sets of stacked standoffs. One should be made out of one long standoff and two short standoffs, and two should be made out of one long standoff and one short standoff.
2. Bolt the longest stacked standoff to the edge of the blueboard in between the 7-hole metal frames.
3. Bolt the two shorter stacked standoffs to the 7-hole metal frames so they are right next to the blueboard.
4. Bolt two short standoffs to the center of the blueboard. Pay attention to their placement!
5. Flip everything over to bolt the motor casings to the short standoffs, and then flip over again when you’re finished.

1. Lay down a horn bracket and then place a long L-frame on top of it so its third hole is on the horn bracket’s top center hole.
2. Place two 7-hole frames on top of the long L-frame’s third hole so they are overlapping, and then use a long bolt to attach all of the pieces to the horn bracket.
3. Bolt a long L-frame to each 7-hole metal frame so that there is one hole sticking out from each piece.
4. Bolt a 7-hole metal frame to the last hole of the long L-frame that is attached to the horn bracket. There should be one hole left on the 7-hole metal frame.

1. Use a black screw to attach the middle of the horn bracket to the motor.
2. Arrange the 7-hole metal frames on the legs so that they form an M.
3. Use long bolts and nylon nuts to attach the legs to the last hole of each long L-frame on the body.

Repeat all of Steps 4 and 5!

1. Bolt the Smart Inventor Board to the two shorter stacked standoffs.
2. Bolt the battery box to the short standoffs on the blueboard.

1. Bolt two short standoffs to a blueboard so they are two holes away from the inner corner and outer bottom corner. Repeat with another blueboard so the two blueboards are mirror images of each other.
2. Overlap the blueboards and use a long bolt to attach them to the longest stacked standoff.

To wire it properly, make sure the Smart Inventor Board is facing you:

• The motor on the right is M1 and the motor on the left is M2.
• Plug their wires into the board where it’s marked M1 and M2.
• The red wires should be facing the right and left sides of the robot. The black wires should be facing each other.
