Buzzers

Your CoDrone doesn’t have a buzzer, but your remote control does! You can find its speaker to the left of the DIP switch panel — it’s a small black cylinder. When you include the buzzer in your program, it sounds like a beeping noise.

To program the buzzer, you should include this function:

CoDrone.Buzz(tone, length)

• Tone is the pitch of the buzzer’s noise. A larger number will produce a higher-pitched buzz, while a smaller number will produce a lower-pitched buzz. Acceptable numbers range from 0 (looooooow pitch) to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 (so high you won’t be able to hear it).
• Length is how long the buzzer will play for. A larger number will produce a shorter buzz, while a smaller number will produce a longer buzz. Acceptable numbers range from 0 (extremely long amount of time) to 2,147,483,647 (so short you won’t be able to hear it).

Buzzers are fun, but they’re also super useful for keeping track of your code! You can put buzzers in your program so you know if your code is working or not. This will help you figure out where there might be problems.

For example, if you wanted to use one of your IR sensors as a trigger, you could include a buzz:

With this code, you would be able to tell if your stop command was working if you heard a buzz after covering sensor 11.

You can also use buzzers with different tones and lengths to indicate which step in the program you’re on! In this code, a buzzer plays before each flight command, and with each step, the buzzer’s pitch gets higher.

This is the pseudocode:

• Include CoDrone library.
• Begin communication at a baud rate of 115200.
• Connect to the nearest drone.
• Take off for 3 seconds.
• Play a low-pitched buzz.
• Throttle up at a speed of 70 for 2 seconds.
• Play a medium-pitched buzz.
• Pitch to the right at a speed of 60 for 2 seconds.
• Play a high-pitched buzz.
• Land.

Challenge 1: Raise the roof!

Rules:

• Use if statements and CoDrone.Buzz() to program your IR sensors.
• Assign each IR sensor a different buzz tone.

Challenge 2: Theme song

Make a theme song for your CoDrone in void setup!

Rules:

• The theme song should be about 3 seconds long.
• The theme song should be in void setup.
• Create it using the function myThemeSong().

Hint: your void setup with the theme song function should look something like this:
