CoDrone Joystick Controls

Air vehicles like your CoDrone move a little differently than land vehicles. While land vehicles can move forward, backward, and sometimes side-to-side, air vehicles can do all of that and move up and down. There are four words that you can use for your CoDrone’s flight direction: roll, pitch, yaw, and throttle. You’ll learn about each of them and how they work with your CoDrone in this lesson!

Roll is the horizontal, or side-to-side, tilt of the drone. Adding roll will make the drone tilt and fly to the right, and reducing roll will make the drone tilt and fly to the left.

Pitch is the forward and backward tilt of the drone. Adding pitch will make the drone tilt and fly forward, and reducing pitch will make the drone tilt and fly backwards.

Throttle is the vertical, or up and down, motion of the drone. Adding throttle will make the drone fly higher, and reducing throttle will make the drone fly lower.

If you uploaded the default flight controller, these are the flight commands!

• Throttle is controlled by the left joystick’s up and down motion.
• Yaw is controlled by the left joystick’s right and left motion.
• Pitch is controlled by the right joystick’s up and down motion.
• Roll is controlled by the right joystick’s right and left motion.
• Stop is controlled by covering the left IR sensor (bt1).
• Landing is controlled by the right IR sensor (bt8).

Pro tip: add buzzer commands so you can hear when an IR sensor is used!
